My blessing for the day: It is my Mom. She dragged us to church every Sunday even when we did not want to go. She made sure we had strong roots with GOD. Then she gave us the example of never drinking alcohol. She said no to everyone. She would not even take a sip no matter how hard people tried. Looking back, her example has helped me in so many ways. I grew up knowing you can say no to anyone and nothing would happen. Pure pressure was not that big of deal because we watched my Mom handle it for all of our lives. So today, I am giving up alcohol, not that I drank it often. I drank on special occasions. I have learned that special and alcohol should not ever go together. I will live the example for my kids just like my Mom. My husband says I am high on life anyways. He says I do not need anything. Well he is right. Hopefully through my living example my kids will learn to say no to negative pressures in life. Then, I have lived that God can calm any storm if we remember to stop and pray. We do not need drugs or alcohol to take our worries away. God’s love is free too! The hardest part Is to remember to pray when your mind is swirling, the storm is raging, but it works. No one needs drugs and alcohol, if you pray for Gods strength to get you through your struggles. I could not have made it this far on my own strength. It’s Gods strength that has given me courage to face my storms and then he blesses me with peace and happiness. I challenge everyone to get down on their hands and knees and ask God to take away their stress, worries, and see if a few minutes later you are feeling more calm and focussed. God is awesome. I am proud that I am not perfect and I can keep working on myself to become a better person. God does not pick qualified people, he qualifies them….yes please…keep qualifying me, it’s the best way to live. Thank you God for giving me the best Mom ever and a great Aunt Cindy too!
