The best tool I use for adults and children to teach them how to brush is a disclosing agent. I use 2 Tone Disclosing Agent. You or your child chew the tablets, lick your tongue all around your teeth, and then rinse your mouth with water. (Warning: do not have nice clothes on or wear a bib, it can get messy. You can also make this a fun game in the bath where the disclosing agent easily rinses off.) The light pink color is the plaque from whatever formed that day and the darker purple is older plaque. The darker the purple means you are missing these areas more often. Then you would brush all of the purple (plaque) off your teeth. I do this with my children periodically and make sure I am doing a good job brushing their teeth.
